HONG KONG CHEFS ASSOCIATION NATIONAL CULINARY TEAM TO COMPETE FOR TOP HONORS AT THE IKA/CULINARY OLYMPICS IN ERFURT, GERMANY.
According to Chef Rudolph Muller, the President of the association and team manager: “the team have worked hard all year; practicing well into the night in between shifts at their respective employers. They are well drilled and ready to represent and elevate the sterling reputation of Asia’s World City. As citizen chefs of Hong Kong we are gratified for the opportunity to represent our home at this prestigious international event. Just participating in the Culinary Olympics will give great exposure to Hong Kong. However we intend to do more than just compete, our intention is to bring home gold!
The Team will be captained by noted world winning Chef Angelo McDonnell (Igor’s Group), and manned by such superstar competitors as Chefs: Mak Kam Kui (Hong Kong Disneyland), Ricky Chan (AsiaWorld Expo), Thomas Lui (JW Marriott), Chiu Sum Wai (HKCEC), and Christopher Wong (Langham Place).
As the massive display pieces begin their month long journey; the team continues to practice several times per week, and will prepare their final live trial for the prestigious members of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, in early October, just days before flying to Erfurt to compete.

The HKCA Executive Committee has determined to make this competition self-sufficient; therefore we must seek donations from members and friends separately and directly. While our sponsors have been generous to a fault we still have financial ground left to cover. We need to continue seeking every financial support available. It does not matter how large or small the amount.”
The Hong Kong Chefs Association (HKCA) is, the premier source of culinary and technical information for the food industry in Hong Kong, with approximately 250 members including chefs, food scientists, food technologists, suppliers, distributors and related food industry professionals; and a network of more than 2500 supporters with interest in our organization.
