NEWS & EVENTS
International Chefs Day 2006
Presidents Message
Dear Friends, Colleagues and Members,
It is my pleasure to announce that we will celebrate the 3nd. International Chefs Day here in Hong Kong with an organized Charity Event, benefiting the Hong Chi Association of Hong Kong.
Hong Chi Association is dedicated to serve people and families with handicap needs, so that they are encouraged and helped to participate fully in family and community life.
Apart from paying tribute to the talents and skills of Chefs all over the world, International Chefs Day is more than a special day to celebrate the ingenuity of the profession; it is indeed a day for these industry leaders and food lovers to celebrate the appreciation of food through goodwill and we, here in Hong Kong, are eager to participate, support and give back to the society as much as we can.
I am delighted to see a vast and spontaneous response from all walks of Chefs, Sponsors, Press, Students and Members alike. This year the response is even bigger then last two years, with nearly 30 companies providing sponsorship in various ways and over 100 Chefs attending the event! It shows that Hong Kong yet again brings together an event, which will benefit so many people who are in need.
On behalf of the HKCA, I wish the Hong Chi Association and its Members all the best, for the participating Chefs, Sponsors, Press and Students our sincere thanks and appreciation for you support and goodwill.
Happy International Chef's Day

Dear colleagues and Members,
October 20 is a special day for many people in Hong Kong, and around the globe. It is a special day for all the Chefs, as it is our International Chef’s Day. But it was also a special day for the Hong Chi Association of Hong Kong.
For the third time, the Hong Kong Chefs Association was more than happy to support the Hong Chi Association of Hong Kong and, as usual, over 100 Chefs show up and participate to this wonderful charity event.
Many thanks to the suppliers who sponsored the food, Delicia, Unilever, La Rose Noire, Gastro Primo, Nestle, Food Square Ltd, Bayern Gourmet, Elite, Angliss, Gizella (by Gastro Primo), A&W, Oriental Engineering, Gourmet House, Saisons, Disco, Discover Health and Prêt-a-manger.
Many thanks to the hotels who sponsored food, time and/or equipment: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Langham Hotel and Langham Place Hotel, Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, Marriott Hotel, the Ritz Carlton, the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Dine.athome Catering Service and the Royal Garden Hotel.
Many thanks to the 100 + Chefs who joined this event, which includes the support of 40 students for the kitchen and service, from the Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre (HITDC) of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) and the assistance of 14 staffs of Cathay Pacific Catering Services (CPCS).
I am confident that the pictures attached will prove to all of you how enjoyable was the event. Everybody was happy, and all the Chefs and sponsor present will agree with it. Making people happy is our daily bread, but it was an extraordinary experience to see the smile of the kids, and to hear thank you for this great day. Yes, that’s definitely the way to celebrate our Day.
Happy Chef’s Day!
The Committee
