The World Association of Cook Society (WACS) has declared October 20 as the International Chef’s Day. It was inaugurated by our honory WACS President Mr. Bill Gallagher.

As Hong Kong has celebrated the 4^th International Chefs Day on 18. due to public holidays, the Hong Kong Chefs Association (HKCA) has invited all Chefs to celebrate and participate in the recognition of out trade.

As in the previous years, we have received donation from many Hotel and Food related Industries and whereby the chefs have sponsored their time and effort to prepare food for almost 1500 mentally challenged adults and children for the mentally challenged Adult of the Fu Hong Society in Pokfulam and the mentally challenged children of the Hong Chi Association in Tai Po.

As an Association like the HKCA, we believe that people with mentally handicap have the same rights and freedom as other members of the community.

The long awaited day to contribute, experience and communicate with those mentally challenged people has gained all of us the understanding of a society and to count our blessing how fortunate we are.

As usual, we met early on International Chefs Day and traveled in a convoy of coaches to the Hong Chi Pinehill Advance Training Centre in Tai Po and Fu Hong Society in Pokfulam. Along with fine cuisine of salads, soups, hot dishes, desserts and beverages, we prepared and served all donated by generous sponsors. No one was left out. Those remaining in their rooms received special lunch packages in nicely designed boxes.

With the help of so many chefs form individual establishments and trainees from the Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre (HITDC) of VTC, it was a memorable day for both the charity and chefs alike.
