Our first ’Educational Dinner ‘ for the year 2006 featuring Sanchez Romero Carvajal Iberico Ham “Los Secrotos Del Cerdo Iberico” sponsored by Oliver C. Win of Oliver Pacific Fine Food & Wine at the El Cid Restaurant, Murray House, Stanley was held on the Monday 27th March.

During the pre-dinner Cocktail time Mr. Severano Sanchez carved us his superb Spanish “Iberico” ham which was greatly appreciated by the large turnout of HKCA members and friends.     Miguel Casajosa, Manager of “Los Secretos Del Cedro Iberico” gave an interesting and detailed presentation with a short video on the history of his famous Ham and the company, which was founded in 1879.

Great selection of Tapas was served prior to the serving of an outstanding dinner prepared by Stephan Herzog and the team of El Cid.    For dinner the guests were seated on the balcony overlooking the beautiful Stanley beach, a convivial atmosphere ensued and encouraged all to relax and enjoy the fine food and sea breezes.

We would like to thank Stephan, Anna Chau from the King Parrot Group for hosting this event, and the team from El Cid for the great food at this location, our thanks also to Miguel Cascajosa for the outstanding product and Oliver Win for his continued support to the industry.

Great positive feedback has been received about this special educational dinner and it show the HKCA that more of this type of events are needed as the format and information shared is the preference of the members.   We hope to bring more events like this in the coming months.   Hopefully with this type of event we will encourage some of the younger industry members to join us and relish in the gatherings that we hold offering good food, good conversation and education.
